HKC Cuties

|
Hi guys!  A quick layout share using the March Scrapbook Kit from Hip Kit Club, along with a few items from the Color Kit.

I'll be honest, it took many many many tries to get this layout made.  First I water colored part of the cut file (it's a background file), then I used the cut as a stencil, then I was going to use white for the background....ugh.  Then I found this lovely green stripe paper and the clouds parted and the angels sang and it all made sense!

The main colors for this page are pink and green, playing off the kids clothes in the photo.  I used a Shimmerz paint from an older Color Kit to do some loose watercoloring and splattering, then used the green from the March Color kit to add more splatters.

I added several Basic Grey elements and some Pinkfresh wood veneer to finish the layout.

Love the end result, hate the frustration it took to get there!  Ha!  But I learned a few things along the way and that's all that matters.  Have a happy day!

HKC WEEKLY CHALLENGE

|
The Hip Kit Club Member Forum on Facebook offers weekly challenges that encourage you to use your kits and play along.  The challenge for this past week (March 18-24) was based on a sketch provided by the lovely Ashley Horton.

I did a loose interpretation, keeping the elements across the middle of the page horizontally.  I used Ashley's cut file as a stencil on Pinkfresh paper using Lemon Yellow Shimmerz, then fussy cutting the shapes.  The leaves are also a HKC cut file.

Of course there's gesso and inks and Shimmerz paints on the background, so I kept the leaves white for some contrast to all the action from the papers.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great week :)

HKC Never Stop

Sometimes the right things show up at the right time and it's like serendipity; all the things fall into place.  That's how I felt about the Hip Cut Club cut file from Kim Watson.  I love using butterflies on my layouts, especially since I have a girl and she thinks butterflies are the best :)

I cut the butterflies from a piece of AC DIY Shop vellum; I liked the book print and it just worked perfectly with the photo.  I used the March Color Kit to add watercolor drips and splatters to the background then used the March scrapbook kit for my layers and embellishments.

Hope you have a beautiful day!  Never stop reading/creating/learning/growing/listening/being/doing.

Hip Kit Club Doer

|
Hello and Happy Friday!  I took a few days off during our Spring Break and I'm back with a brand-spankin-new layout I made with the March Kit from Hip Kit Club.

There are a ton of beautiful exclusive papers in the scrapbook kit this month, but for this page I stuck with the Pinkfresh line; I have had this photo of my girly from a few years back just sitting around but never scrapped it.  I think the colors in the picture were throwing me off.  I could have printed it in black and white, but I think I knew in the back of my mind that the right set of papers would come my way and I could keep the photo in color.

I started the page by stamping the Pinkfresh stamp from the March Color Kit on the background; I rotated the stamp and did a few impressions right in the center of the page as a mat for the photo.  I hand cut a few of the Pinkfresh papers in a banner shape to use behind the photo as well.

I fussy cut the birds and trees from another Pinkfresh paper to use as embellishments.  I used Shimmerz paints from the Color Kit plus a few from my stash to add pops of color here and there on my page.  I also dabbed some paint on the fussy cut pieces.  The coral color is from my stash.

I love those washi strips included in the scrapbook kit this month, I've used several already :)  The letter Q and the DOER square are from Basic Grey.

A few paint splatters and some random paper strips and this page was complete.  I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Gossamer Blue Hello Happy Day

|
Hello!  I'm sharing this shiny (and reflective) layout featuring March kits from Gossamer Blue.  I used Main Kit Add-on #2, Bits & Pieces, and the Life Pages kit.

The color of the truck in the picture worked perfectly with the floral in the Pink Paislee acetate piece. I know I've scrapped this photo (either in my Life Pages album or on another page, haha!), but this was such a fab day with fab friends that I had to use it again.

I adore those mirrored pieces from Pink Paislee.  Adore.  Add in some thread from my stash plus those floral die cuts from Maggie Holmes and it was the perfect mix for a page about junkin' at the barn sale :)

Gotta love floral Thickers!  And the wood veneer pieces from the Life Pages kit were the cherry on top.  I just love the Springtime feeling from the March kits.

Hello my friends!  I'm sharing another project using the gorgeous Gossamer Blue March kits.  I created another mixed media layout using gesso, Distress products and Shimmerz products to pull my layout together.

I started with a very thin layer of gesso and then created my photo mat while that dried.  I started adding the Amy Tangerine acetate pieces and other embellishments and then added the inks and paints around them.

Those mirror hearts from Pink Paislee are so fab!  The wood veneer is from the Main kit and I painted it with both Distress stain and Shimmerz.  It's hard to pick up the sparkle from the Shimmerz on camera, but believe me it is so pretty.

I used additional alpha's to finish the title.  Love those Thickers!

Gossamer Blue Happy Souls

Happy Reveal Day my friends!  My first layout for March features items from the Main Kit, Main Kit Add-on #2, Life Pages Add-on #3 and the Life Pages kit.

I used gesso and Shimmerz paints on the background, then flicked some black spray ink on to tie in the few black elements I used to embellish.

Aren't the Shimelle acrylic clouds from the Life Pages kit so dreamy?  I also love the acetate pieces from Amy Tangerine!

Check out the kits as they go live today at noon central on the Gossamer Blue site!
