DM 15, Plans

I've really put some thought into this year's December Memories album, taking into consideration things I loved in the past, things that didn't work so great, and reality.  Reality is this:  I want this year's album to have more detail on the pages, which means I need to do less pages.  As of now here is my plan:

  • Days 1-25 only
  • One page per day
  • Use 6x4 cards as inserts
  • Use photos as inserts
  • See-through and Fused pockets
  • No 6x8 pages
While this is my plan, I'm open to plans changing based on need/daily life/events attended.  The best piece of advice I can offer anyone who does a December Memories Album is to keep an open mind and remain flexible.  Otherwise you can end up very frustrated!

I spent a lovely Sunday afternoon with two of my creative (and very dear) friends and worked out some of my process for this album, finalizing my plan and coming up with the number cards to designate the days.  I like one aspect of continuity in my mini albums so this year the number cards are all the same.  I used the Pink Paislee red foil numbers, Simple Stories word stickers and Paislee Press for Gossamer Blue exclusive word stickers.

I cut down 6 sheets of the 6x8 Gossamer Blue papers to 3x4, then adhered the foil numbers and different stickers to the cards.

My favorite cards are the most simple; just the numbers and a single sticker!  I especially love the stickers stapled with my Tiny Attacher.

So that's my plans in a nutshell!  Can't believe December first is next week already; not to brag, but I'm already done with my Christmas shopping ;)

Share your plans for December Memories, and make sure you keep checking in on the DM class if you enrolled (and you still can enroll!).  Beshka and friends really put together a tips-packed class with tons of ideas to scraplift.

DM 15 cover + title page

|
Hello!

I finally got busy on my Gossamer Blue December Memories album over the weekend.  I painted several layers of white acrylic paint on the cover, then added some silver washi and a doily from my stash, adding another layer of paint over the top of those.  The wood veneer 25 and Noel are from the kit, covered in white paint and adhered.

My title page is a 2x2 Simple Stories page from the DM kit.  I added sequins and embossing powder from my stash (No glitter?  Use embossing powder!).  To keep the acrylic pieces on my page I used some gold thread and stitched them right to the page protector.  The acetate K is from an older Gossamer Blue kit (from Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper).  2x2 kit cards finished off the page after fusing my see-thru pockets shut.

I'll have my number cards on the blog later this week!

Project 12 October

|
Wow, I actually have my October Project 12 layout completed and it's only the beginning of November!  I'm on a role!

This life pages spread uses all Gossamer Blue kits from October.  The left side of the layout features lots of exclusive 4x4 cards from GB.  To change it up I put the title card in the bottom left pocket.  I think the Around Here card is one of my favorites from the October kits.  I opted to keep one of the 2x2 pockets clear to keep the see-thru effect from September.  The Pink Paislee card stock and acetate die cuts were really put to use this month.

The right side of the layout is a repeat of the die cuts and wood veneer from the left side, but I opted to give the 3x4 veneer card a white wash with spray ink (painted on with a brush).  The Dear Lizzy rub-ons didn't stick to the wood all that great, so to "antique" it a bit I just added the ink over top. Turned out kinda pretty, right?

The insert for this month is dedicated completely to Halloween.  We attended two parties this year and the Themed Add-on provided me with plenty of items to make an entire insert, front and back.  I used a Gold Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Marker on the wood veneer Halloween.  I'm not sure I love the way it looks, but can't change it now ;)  It's handmade people, things happen :)

This month's Life Pages info:
  • photos were taken with items in the page protectors
  • left side page protector from We R Memory Keepers*
  • right side page protector from Becky Higgins*
  • insert page protector from American Crafts*
  • hand-journaling with AC Precision Pen .03*
  • Tiny Attacher from Tim Holtz*
  • All Life Pages cards and embellishments from Gossamer Blue
    • (October Add-on #3 still available HERE at the time this post was written)
  • Items marked with an * were purchased by me
  • Kits were provided to me by Gossamer Blue as part of their Design Team.  The opinions expressed about said products are solely my own.
Don't forget I will be celebrating 250 blog posts and 250 Instagram followers very soon!  Keep checking back for info on the giveaway!

Gossamer Blue November Reveal

|
Happy Reveal Day!  Check out all the amazing kits Gossamer Blue has for November HERE, at noon central time November 1st.  I especially love the Jen Hadfield line in the kits, it's just. so. pretty.

I made this layout after seeing the giant, gold glitter Create by Jen Hadfield in the kits.  I was so inspired this month, these soft colors are such a beautiful palette for black and white photos.

So much sparkle!  I also liked the stickers in this line, and the die cuts got a ton of use.

The washi?  GORGEOUS.  The gold foil hearts are from Amy Tangerine.

I used the November Main Kit Add-on and Add-on #2 to make this page.  Check out the kits HERE.

I hope you make something lovely today.

*I will be celebrating 250 blog posts and 250 Instagram followers very soon!  A giveaway will be happening, make sure to check back to see when, where and the WHAT, of course!
